Chain Mail Swap - For You Card with Pop Up Petals Bundle

For the past few months, I’ve been taking part in a chain mail card swap with fellow Aussie SU demonstrators. It reminds me of the childhood game Chinese Whispers, where the message never quite ends up the same as it started!

Cards in our swap can evolve in much the same way. The first card in each blog hop begins as an original design, which is then posted to the next person on the list. Each participant creates their own version by CASEing (Copy And Selectively Editing) the card they receive before sending it on again. This continues throughout the group, with each card changing a little along the way.

I’ve absolutely loved this challenge, there’s something so exciting about opening the letterbox every two weeks to find a new card waiting to inspire me. I must admit, I’m really missing that happy mail now that this round has come to an end.

For today’s blog hop, we’re starting with Heather's card. I recommend beginning with her blog post, then clicking through the links to see how each card transforms along the way.

For today's card, I definitely missed the memo on the spotlighting design! I spotted an oval shape, which I changed to a circle, along with a pretty floral image and a sentiment near the bottom of the image. I moved my sentiment lower on my finished card to stay closer to the feel of the original design.

I wanted to keep the floral theme going, so I used die cuts from Detailed Flora Dies (Paper Pumpkin Dies July - September 2026) to create the background. I also mimicked the ribbon bow with some linen thread. For the main floral image, I used the vase and flowers from Pop Up Petals stamp set. Sadly, this set was on the Last Chance List and is no longer available, but it I thought it was perfect for this card.

Even thought I may have missed the spotlight part of the the CASE, I had lots of fun putting my own spin on this design.

  1. It is a fun challenge to see which aspects of the card we are inspired by. Love the happy spring feel of this one.
