Chain Mail Swap - Turtle-y Cute DSP Birthday Card

For the past few months, I have been taking pat in what has been known as a chain mail card swap with fellow Aussie SU demos. Do you remember the game Chinese Whispers you played as a child?

The message never quite came out the same at the end as it started. Well, cards in the chain mail swap can end up that way as well.

The first card in each blog hop is an original card and then it is posted to the next person on the list and they create their card, CASEing (Copy And Selectively Edit) the card they were mailed and post it onto the next person on the list and it continues on and on through the list. I've loved this challenge CASEing the cards every two weeks when they arrived in my letterbox. I miss the happy mail now the this round is over but we are starting a new one 🙂

For our blog hop today, we are starting with my card.

I wanted to create a turtle shell background for my card and didn't own the Turtle Textures Embossing Folder. I tried to create my own background using a mosaic stamp I created many years ago (back when we had to cut out the rubber stamps ourselves before Stampin' Up! die cut them for us.) I also used my trimmer to add scoring lines to the base of my cardstock to look like the lines on a turtles stomach. Then I fussy cut the turtles out of the DSP and adhered them onto the circles on my card front and finished off with a Happy Birthday sentiment. I think this makes a create unisex kids card which I normally find very hard to make.
